Nands Law is a Fiji-wide legal practice - Barristers, Solicitors and Notary Public - based in Suva and instructed by clients across the country, from the Central and Western Divisions to the Northern Division and outer islands. We act for individuals, families, businesses, banks and financial institutions, offering clear advice, careful preparation and professional representation across civil, commercial, family and property law.
Our Story
Nands Law was founded in 2009 by Mukesh Nand as a sole legal practice in Suva. Over more than a decade, the firm built a reputation for careful, client-focused legal work across litigation, banking and security documentation, conveyancing, probate and family law. In 2023, ownership of the firm passed to the son of Mukesh Nand, Shivnay Nand, who now leads Nands Law as Principal. Mukesh continues to be closely involved with the firm as a Partner and Legal Practitioner, ensuring clients continue to benefit from his experience alongside the next generation of leadership.
Mukesh Nand - Partner and Founder
Mukesh Nand is the founder of Nands Law and a Partner and Legal Practitioner of the firm. He holds a Bachelor of Laws, a Professional Diploma in Legal Practice, and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Financial Management, all from the University of the South Pacific, and was recognised as the Best Graduating Law Student in Fiji in 2002. He was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of Fiji in 2003.
Before founding Nands Law, Mukesh built close to two decades of legal and management experience, including as a Law Clerk with Parshotam and Co, as Assistant Manager Legal at the Fiji Development Bank, and as Manager Legal at Home Finance Company Limited before joining Rams Law and later founding Nands Law in 2009.
In 2022, Mukesh was appointed Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Fiji, a role in which he presided over the successful conduct of the 2022 Fiji General Election. He served in this role until 2023, before returning his full attention to the firm as Partner.
Shivnay Nand - Principal
Shivnay Nand is the Principal of Nands Law, having taken over leadership of the firm from his father, Mukesh Nand, in 2023. He holds a double degree, Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws, majoring in Accounting and Law, and a Professional Diploma in Legal Practice, both from the University of the South Pacific.
Shivnay has been with Nands Law since 2012, progressing through the firm as a Law Clerk, Paralegal and Senior Associate before becoming Principal. He heads the Commercial and Litigation practice of the firm and conducts trials in courts throughout Fiji. His practice covers civil and criminal litigation, family law, conveyancing and security documentation, company formation and commercial matters.
Known for his hands-on approach and responsiveness to clients, Shivnay continues to build on the reputation of the firm for careful preparation and clear, practical legal advice.
